Sequoia Capital announces a $2 billion fund dedicated to AI startups, the largest AI-focused venture fund this year.
Sequoia Capital has launched a $2 billion fund dedicated entirely to AI startups, representing the largest AI-focused venture fund this year. The fund will invest across all stages from seed to growth, with check sizes ranging from $1 million to $200 million.
The fund will focus on areas including foundation models, AI infrastructure, enterprise applications, and horizontal AI tools. Sequoia has already deployed over $500 million from the fund into 12 companies, including investments in three generative AI startups.
"AI is transforming every industry, and we want to back the founders building what's next," said Sequoia's Roelof Botha. "This fund reflects our conviction that AI will be the biggest technology shift of the decade."
Sequoia's AI portfolio includes some of the most valuable private AI companies globally. The new fund gives the firm significant capital to maintain its position in competitive rounds.
The fund launch comes amid intense competition for AI startup equity, with valuations reaching unprecedented levels. Sequoia noted it will remain disciplined on pricing while being aggressive on allocation.
