Goldman Sachs establishes major investment fund focused on AI data centers and computing infrastructure.

Goldman Sachs has announced a $3 billion investment fund dedicated to building AI data centers and computing infrastructure, marking one of the largest financial institutions' bets on AI infrastructure.

The fund will invest in companies building next-generation data centers, GPU cloud computing providers, and emerging technologies like quantum computing for AI applications. Initial investments are expected to total $500 million in the first year.

"AI infrastructure is the backbone of the AI economy," said Goldman Sachs' Chief Strategy Officer. "We're seeing unprecedented demand for computing capacity, and this fund will capture that opportunity."

The investment bank projects that global AI infrastructure spending will reach $500 billion by 2030, driven by continued growth in generative AI adoption across enterprises.

The fund has already received commitments from several sovereign wealth funds and pension funds, demonstrating broad institutional appetite for AI infrastructure investments.
