LG announces new smart home hub with onboard AI processing for enhanced privacy and responsiveness.
LG Electronics has unveiled a new smart home hub featuring onboard AI processing, allowing users to control their smart home devices locally without relying on cloud services.
The hub, powered by a custom AI chip, can understand natural language commands, learn user preferences over time, and coordinate multiple smart devices seamlessly. LG claims the device offers 10x faster response times compared to cloud-based alternatives.
"Privacy is a growing concern for smart home users," said LG's Smart Home Division Head. "Our hub processes everything locally, so your voice commands and usage patterns never leave your home."
The device integrates with over 10,000 smart home products and supports major protocols including Matter, Zigbee, and Thread. LG plans to offer the hub as part of a subscription service that includes premium AI features.
The launch positions LG as a competitor to Amazon Echo, Google Home, and Apple HomePod in the premium smart home market.
