HarmonyOS 7's prospects depend partly on the installed base created by HarmonyOS 6. Huawei's public support material says HarmonyOS 6 terminal devices had passed 70 million by July 2, 2026, including phones, tablets, and PCs.
That scale matters because operating systems need developer confidence. A larger installed base gives app makers more reason to adapt, test, and support platform-specific features. It also gives Huawei more usage feedback before a formal HarmonyOS 7 rollout.
The number should still be read carefully. Device count does not automatically mean active users, app depth, international readiness, or developer profitability. The stronger signal is whether core daily apps, services, and device integrations become dependable enough that users stop thinking about ecosystem gaps.
For Huawei, the next challenge is conversion: turn device scale into app quality, cross-device habits, and agent-ready services. That is harder than shipping an OS update, but it is what makes a platform durable.
